Friday, July 31 is the second day of the tournament and the undefeated teams are Wayzata, Academy Stars, Rochester Patriots & Apple Valley. Fergus Falls who defeated the Moorhead Blues in Section 9 are 2-1 right now and just defeated Buffalo 13-8 in a loser out game, they will play Hamline Purple at 7:30PM in another loser out game.
Blues Fall To Fergus Fall 5-3, Finish 2nd In District 9 Tournament
The Moorhead Blues concluded their season today in a tough 5-3 loss to Fergus Falls. John Cahill got the Blues out to a fast start with a homer in the first which saw the Blues take a 3-0 lead. Fergus Falls picked away at the lead until in the 8th inning it was tied 3-3. Fergus Falls then were able to get starting pitcher Paul Roers out of the game and Scott Petry came in for relief. Fergus Falls was able to score two runs and capture the District 9 Championship and a trip to the Minnesota State Tournament in New Ulm. Moorhead finishes the season 22-20.

The Moorhead Blues have kept rolling through the Minnesota Disctrict 9 Tournament defeating Fergus Falls 6-5. Scott Petry went 7 innings for the Blues before giving way to Aaron Ostlund and then Paul Roers. John Cahill provided the sac fly to score Braden Rahman in the top of the ninth inning to give Moorhead a 6-4 lead. Fergus Falls would answer with a run in the bottom of the ninth but could not get the tying run home. John Cahill finished 1-for-4 on the day with 3 RBI's and Braden Rahman was 2-for-3, scoring 2 runs. The Blues improve to 21-19 on the season and will play the winner of TRF vs Roseau tomorrow at 7PM in TRF.
